Founded in 1985, Seneca Family of Agencies provides adoption, foster care, mental health, education, and parent/professional training services to children and families statewide. Based originally in Northern California, Seneca completed a three-way merger with Kinship Center (a statewide agency founded 1984) and Canyon Acres Children and Family Services (a local Anaheim agency founded in 1980) in 2012, joining three agencies each contributing 25-30 years of specialized experience. Today, Seneca has offices in the Bay Area, Central Coast, and Southern California, reaching thousands of children and families throughout the state.
Seneca Orange County reaches more than 1,000 children and parents/caregivers from Orange, Los Angeles, San Bernardino, and Riverside Counties each year through locations in Tustin, Anaheim Hills, Pasadena, and Redlands. As a statewide agency, our mission is to help children and families through the most difficult times of their lives. To achieve this mission, we work to build and sustain healthy, permanent, loving family connections; to improve wellbeing through mental health and therapeutic services; to strengthen family systems and communities through crisis intervention; and to provide education and parent/caregiver training and support.
Reaching the most vulnerable children and youth in the child welfare system, our goal is to find a family for every waiting child, providing pre/ post-adoption mental health and education services that ensure each placement becomes permanent. Our tailored services not only facilitate a therapeutic healing process, but also help to sustain the families parenting these traumatized children, assisting them through both challenges and crises. Predicated on an unwavering pledge to “unconditional care”—Seneca OC does whatever it takes to help children and families thrive, even when faced with tremendous challenges.
While Seneca OC programs operate with the support of local, county, and state funding, we also rely on community support through donations to strengthen our programs to help Orange County children heal and thrive.
